National Volunteer Week 2026
If you’ve ever been to an event at the Parksville Community Centre and thought, “This all runs so smoothly,” we have a small confession: it’s not magic—it’s volunteers.
During National Volunteer Week, we celebrate the people who arrive early, stay late, and keep everything running with care, humour, and more than a little caffeine. They set up rooms, welcome guests, solve problems on the fly, and create the warm, inclusive atmosphere our community is known for.
They’re also behind the scenes preparing and serving countless meals, snacks, and cups of coffee—making sure no one leaves hungry and everyone feels at home. And when the event winds down, their work continues, sorting and saving an impressive amount of recycling so it stays out of the landfill. It’s not glamorous, but it’s deeply meaningful.
Our volunteers are the heart of this Centre. They bring people together, strengthen connections, and quietly make Parksville a better place every single day.
So to every volunteer: thank you. Your generosity, energy, and community spirit do not go unnoticed—they make all the difference.
(And yes, we’ll keep working on that steady coffee supply.)
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Parksville Community Centre
